A lot of people who consider booking a massage never actually do it. Not because they don’t want to, but because they’re not quite sure what to expect. What do you wear? Do you have to undress completely? What if something doesn’t feel right?

That uncertainty is completely normal. Here’s what it looks like in practice.

Before you start

When you arrive, there’s a short intake first. Nothing complicated, just a brief check-in. Where is the tension? Any complaints to keep in mind? How firm should the pressure be? That takes about five to ten minutes.

Then you get a moment to undress and lie down. You decide how much you take off. During the session you’re always covered with a sheet, except for the area being worked on.

During the massage

Most first sessions start gently. That’s intentional. The body needs a little time to adjust to touch, pressure and the surroundings. After about fifteen minutes, most people settle in naturally.

If something doesn’t feel right, just say so. That’s not an inconvenience, that’s exactly how it’s supposed to work. The pressure gets adjusted, or a different area is worked on instead. There’s no fixed script.

Afterwards

Most people feel both relaxed and tired after a relaxation massage. Give yourself a moment. Drink some water. Don’t rush straight into a packed schedule.

Some muscle soreness the next day is possible, especially the first time or when deeper work was done on tight areas. It passes on its own.
